Riyadh filcom in Yemen111 October 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh recently conducted its 21st Embassy on Wheels (EOW) consular outreach this year by heading to Sana’a, Yemen.

With the assistance of Philippine Honorary Consul in Yemen Mohammed Saleh Al Jamal and his team, the consular mission serviced a total of 234 consular transactions.

The seven-member Embassy team was led by Consul-General Marshall Louis Alferez. The mission, which was held from October 06 to 08, processed 184 e-Passport applications, 33 notarial services, 11 applications for replacement of lost passports, three birth registrations and one passport extension. The mission also issued visas to five Yemeni nationals heading to the Philippines on business.

“We are happy to serve the Filipino community in Yemen, who have seen more than their fair share of difficulties over the past two years. This annual outreach mission is one that both the Embassy and the Filipino community look forward to, and we assure everyone that the Embassy, with the assistance of the Philippine Consulate in Sana’a, will always be ready to provide assistance to Filipinos in Yemen,” remarked Consul-General Alferez.

There are an estimated 1,100 Filipinos currently living and working in Yemen, mostly in the health sector and in various business establishments. The Philippine Government lifted its ban on deployment of Filipino workers to Yemen on 15 March 2013. END
