02 August 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria, led by Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Joseph Gerard B. Angeles, was warmly welcomed by the Filipino community in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, on July 23.
As part of his visit to Zambia, Ambassador Angeles visited our kababayans at their workplaces. In particular, Ambassador Angeles visited Nisco Industries Limited, a dominant player in the country’s footwear industry, and Fairview Hospital. Nisco Industries employs sixteen Filipinos in their footwear factory, while Fairview Hospital has twelve Filipino doctors, nurses and staff under its employ.
The Embassy consular team was able to provide passport renewal service, document legalization service and reporting of vital events. The consular mission was hosted by the “Pinoys in Zambia” (PinoyZam), the Filipino community group based in Lusaka. Approximately 475 Filipinos are residing in Zambia.
The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria regularly conducts consular missions in the ten countries under its jurisdiction - South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. END
