03 August 2016 — Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores met with Ms. Lin Yanqiong, Vice Chairman, Longyan City China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) on July 19.

Ms. Lin visited the Consulate General to extend CCPIT’s invitation to the 7th Longyan Machinery Expo slated on November 08. She also requested the Consulate General’s assistance in conveying the invitation for Philippine companies that may wish to participate in the said event.

Consul General Flores assured Ms. Lin of the Post’s support and further assured her that the invitation to the above-mentioned expo will be conveyed to the various Philippine companies, both based in Fujian and the Philippines. The invitation is seen as a good platform for cooperation between the Philippines and Fujian province as well as an opportunity to increase people-to-people contacts.

Longyan City is a traditional agricultural and coal mining town but has managed to transform itself into a machinery and LED production city in order to keep in step with the industrial development of China. Its major industries produce special machineries, including flood control trucks, dust collecting trucks, cleaning and vacuum trucks, power generators (solar and fuel) and LED lighting fixtures.

Longyan City is 142 kilometers northwest of Xiamen. It is considered as the “Backyard Garden of Xiamen” with 80% of its land area covered by forest, the biggest in Fujian province. END
