03 August 2016— Three Filipino students, Ms. Gijanne Vera Lit Rosal, Ms. Amberlyne Adao Angeles, from the University of the Philippines and Mr. Timothy Joseph Gonzaga Henares from the Ateneo University participated in the International Summer School (ISS) in India from June 25 to August 05. This is the first time the Philippines participated in the six-week summer program.

The ISS is an initiative of the Center for Escalation of Peace (CEP) with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs India. It aims to promote international goodwill and cross-cultural dialogue among promising young individuals from top universities worldwide.

With India as a study model, the program offers undergraduate course modules and experiences that introduce students to a range of issues and debates shaping contemporary developing societies.

The program covers a four-week academic session at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus and a two-week field experience after the academic session.  The program includes excursions and an opportunity to do volunteer teaching work for a social cause.

All participants from 18 countries were presented certificates of completion for the academic session. The students are currently completing their two-week field experience. END
