03 August 2016 — A delegation from the Philippine Department of Agriculture headed by Undersecretary for Policy Planning Segfredo Serrano andUndersecretary for Fisheries Eduardo Gongona (concurrent Director of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-BFAR) met with the officials of the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting on Traceability of Fish and Fisheries Products in Jakarta, Indonesia on 27 July 2016. The said Philippine officials also attended the Southeast Asia and Pacific Regional Fisheries Summit on July 26 to 27.

The bilateral meeting tackled strategies to strengthen Philippines-Indonesia bilateral relations in fisheries.  The two sides agreed to fast track the conclusion of relevant documents and to work closely together to ensure a robust economic partnership.

Invitations to forthcoming fisheries events and meetings in the Philippines and Indonesia were also conveyed during the meeting.  END
