03 August 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. and Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno honored 21 students of The Philippine Global School (TGPS) in Abu Dhabi and nine students from the Philippine Emirates Private School (PEPS) for bagging numerous medals and awards during the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Global Round in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 26 to 30.
The said students were pitted against 3,200 students from all over the world. The WSC is an international debate and collaborative writing competition.
Last February, the said students from TPGS and PEPS successfully competed in the regional level held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Following their victory in Bangkok, the top teams from TPGS and PEP, and their top winners will move on to the final round of the WSC otherwise known as the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in Connecticut, U.S.A on November 2016.
The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi presented Certificate of Recognition to each student who participated in the prestigious event.
Previously, Ambassador Vingno, Jr. and Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno recognized the students of TPGS in Abu Dhabi at a dinner hosted on June 17 at the Philippine Embassy.
In his Welcome Remarks, Ambassador Vingno congratulated the students who qualified for the Global Round of the WSC. He also encouraged them to continuously read books to gain more knowledge.
TPGS Principal Lizabeth Comia, English Coordinator Ruby Orellanes-Awad, Coach Raslyn Harrison, and WSC participant Kurt Narciso paid a courtesy visit on Ambassador Vingno and Madame Yoko after Narciso’s victory in the WSC Global Round.
Madame Vingno also attended a send-off and honored students of the PEPS in Abu Dhabi who participated in the WSC Global Round. PEPS CEO Nelia Napal-Cinco, Principal Rosemarie Natividad, Vice Principal John Marcelo, and PEPS faculty members joined Madame Vingno. END
