04 August 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, with concurrent jurisdiction over Tanzania, successfully held a special screening of the movie, “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” at the Century Cinemax in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Third Secretary and Vice Consul Francis Maynard S. Maleon attended the event which marks the first time that a Filipino film was shown in a movie theater in East Africa.

Organized together with the Filipino community in Tanzania, the event was attended by around 130 people including non-Filipino nationals including Germans, Tanzanians, Spaniards, and Indians.

The film screening is in line with the Embassy’s cultural promotion activities and is the first of several screenings that has been planned for East Africa. END
