08 August 2016— The U14 Boys Philippine National Football Team, led by Coach Emilio “Chieffy” Caligdong, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Meynardo LB. Montealegre at the Philippine Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam on July 27.

The U14 Boys National team visited Brunei to participate in the AFC U14 Regional Festival of Football 2016 alongside Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam. The festival kicked off on July 26 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Ambassador Meynardo LB. Montealegre welcomed the team to Brunei. He wished the team all the best and advised them to give their best for the country.

The AFC U14 Regional Festival of Football was not a tournament. It was held to serve as a learning experience and an international exposure to participants. The event also aimed to develop the players for international competitions.

The event was officially closed by Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Muluk Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports at the Berakas Sports Complex on July 30. END
