11 August 2016 – In celebration of the 49th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the ASEAN Women’s Circle in Hanoi (AWCH) together with the Viet Nam Women’s Union launched the ASEAN – Colours of Culture Exhibition at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum on August 03.
The event also aims to commemorate the 1st Anniversary of the ASEAN Women’s Circle in Hanoi.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga, Honorary President of the ASEAN Women's Circle in Hanoi; Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, Vice President of the Viet Nam Women's Union; and wives of the ASEAN countries' ambassadors, lady diplomats, as well as representatives from international organizations. Mme. Marichu Servigon, spouse of Philippine Ambassador to Viet Nam Noel Servigon, led the Philippine delegation during the opening ceremony.
Briefly, Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga delivered a speech in which she stressed that ASEAN has risen as a bright model of regional connectivity, which has contributed to the building of the Southeast Asian region for peace, stability, cooperation and development and that the success of ASEAN suggests that solidarity and “unity in diversity” are the key to connecting Southeast Asian countries under a common roof.
The Exhibition introduced the unique and diverse images of each ASEAN country’s people and traditions. The Philippine Embassy’s exhibit features the T’boli indigenous group in southern Mindanao.
The ASEAN exhibition will run for two weeks. END
