11 August 2016 – ASEAN Heads of Missions, Diplomatic officials and staff based in Dhaka commemorated the 49th Anniversary of the Founding of ASEAN in Dhaka on August 08 at the Indonesian Embassy grounds. The occasion was marked with a flag-raising ceremony.
After the flag-raising ceremony, a moment of silence was observed in memory of the victims of the Dhaka tragedies. It was followed by the opening remarks of the ASEAN chairperson, Her Excellency Panpimon Suwannapongse, the Thai Ambassador.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister, Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali joined the ASEAN Heads of Missions as Chief Guest. Minister Mahmood conveyed in his remarks that Bangladesh wishes to intensify political and economic stability and cultural connectivity with ASEAN countries. END
