15 August 2016 – The Heads of Missions (HoMs) and other members of the Diplomatic Corps in Brunei Darussalam hosted a special reception in celebration of the 70th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Royal Berkshire Hall of the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Jerudong on August 06.
The Ambassadors and High Commissioners, and their respective spouses greeted His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha during the reception.
Members of the Royal Family who were present during the reception included His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz.
The Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Chhay Sokhan, Cambodian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, led the HoMs in welcoming Their Majesties to the occasion. The Diplomatic Corps also presented a special plaque made of pure silver, bearing birthday greetings to the Sultan, along with the names of 29 diplomatic missions accredited in Brunei Darussalam.
The special reception organized annually by the Diplomatic Corps in Brunei Darussalam in honor of His Majesty’s birthday started in July 2002 during the Sultan’s 56th birthday. END
