16 August 2016 – Philippine Navy Ensign Maycee Angga was recently recognized as the Best International Student out of 131 naval officers at the Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) passing-out-parade in Dartmouth, United Kingdom (UK) on August 11. 

Ensign Angga is the only female international student in a batch composed of naval officers from Albania, the Bahamas, Egypt, Libya, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), UK, and Ukraine.

Out of 20 foreign cadets admitted to BRNC this year, only 10 made it to graduation.

Ensign Angga made history as the first Filipino to attend and complete the 30-week training course at BRNC under the support of the Philippine Navy and the UK Government.  The said course began in January 04.

The intensive training course included a study visit to France, and a three-week ship acquaint where Angga was assigned to HMS Bulwark, an amphibious assault ship operating in UK waters.

Consul Rommel Romato represented the Philippine Embassy during the passing-out-parade.  He also conveyed the congratulatory message of Philippine Ambassador to the UK Evan Garcia to Ensign Angga. Vice Admiral Jonathan Woodcock OBE, Second Sea Lord and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, was the guest of honor during the ceremony.

BRNC was established in 1863 in Dartmouth, England as the initial officer training establishment of the British Royal Navy. Majority of its cadets come from the Royal Navy, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, and naval organizations from foreign and Commonwealth countries. END
