Osaka GAD 118 August 2016—The Officers and staff and the Consulate General of the Philippines in Osaka held a two-day seminar on Gender and Development (GAD) on August 06 to 07.

Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Deputy National Statistician Estela T. de Guzman and Assistant National Statistician for Civil Registration Service and Central Support Office Editha R. Orcilla focused on civil registration concerns of Filipino women and their children living in Japan.

Issues on marriage, divorce, paternity and filiations related to the registration of birth were among the key issues discussed. Provisions of Republic Acts Nos.9255, 9858, and 10172 pertaining to reports of birth were also clarified. RA 3613 and Presidential Decree No. 856 on reports of marriage and reports of death, respectively, were also included in the discussion.

Review and further discussions on civil registration, gender and development of overseas Filipino women, and the Magna Carta on Women were tackled during the second day of the program.  END
