23 August 2016 – Filipino scientist Dr. Vincent Daria is currently leading The Daria Group on Neurophotonics, with Mr. Michael Castanares, Filipino PhD scholar, as a member of the Group. He joined the Australian National University to set up a SLM-based multi-photon microscope for applications in neuroscience in 2007. Ambassador Minda Calaguian-Cruz, joined by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Nicole de Castro and Kathleen Tudio, met with Dr. Daria on August 10 and toured the John Curtin School of Medical Research. Dr. Daria introduced the work of The Daria Group and demonstrated their self-built equipment in the Group’s laboratory.

Dr. Daria has previously participated in the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik Scientist Program. During the visit of DOST to Canberra on May 15 to brief Filipino scientists on the Balik Scientist Program, Dr. Daria supported the Embassy in enjoining Filipino scientists to attend the briefing and to consider participating in the program.
