24 August 2016 – Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz met with members of the Filipino-American community at the Rizal Hall of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles on August 17.

In his welcome remarks, Consul General Cruz highlighted the successes of President Rodrigo Duterte’s ongoing anti-drugs campaign and encouraged the community to do their part to help the new administration achieve its goals. He also announced new developments in the Philippine passport and the planned increase of notaries public in Southern California.

Consul General Cruz also emphasized the Consulate’s steadfast support for Filipino American young leaders and to the cause of Filipino veterans in the United States, particularly the awarding of a Congressional Gold Medal to Filipino soldiers who fought side by side with the Americans during World War II.

The community had a lively exchange with the new Consul General during the short open forum on topics such as the performance of the current administration, the conduct of medical missions and disaster-relief projects, and strengthening the Consulate’s media relations.

The event was attended by 120 members of the Filipino-American community including elected and appointed officials in the local governments. END
