14 October 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur informed the Department of Foreign Affairs that two Davao-based companies are participating in the 4th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2013 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 10 to 13.
IGEM 2013 is Malaysia’s largest green technology and eco-products exhibition, and is being held to coincide with the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES). The hosts of the GES are Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and United States President Barack Obama, who was represented by Secretary of State John Kerry.
The two companies include Environmental Counselors Inc. (ECI) and Far East Associates (FEA), both of which advocate environmental planning in the country.
“The Embassy is heartened with the participation of companies advocating environmental planning. Their companies are of a rare breed because they combine business with concern for the environment. In this day and age, concern for the environment is something that everyone must pay attention to,” Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said.
The delegation also paid a courtesy call at the Embassy on October 11.
ECI is an environmental management company offering varied services to help private and government sector clients meet environmental standards and legal compliance in the Philippines and the ASEAN. It was formed in 1997 in Manila by a group of professionals who have previous experience working with government environmental agencies and nongovernmental organization. It is headed by Atty. Antonio Tria as Chairman and John Carlo Tria as Director.
Meanwhile, FEA is an architectural design and planning firm with a special interest in environmental planning, and is currently engaged in architectural design and planning, urban design, environmental planning and construction management services. It is headed by Principal Architect, Founder and Managing Partner Danilo Lim.
Both companies are members of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
