02 September 2016 — Filipinos in the County of Hawaii, the biggest island in the State of Hawaii, availed of the consular services rendered by the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, Hawaii during its mobile consular outreach activity from August 26 to 27 in Hilo, Hawaii.

Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina A. Jamoralin led a consular team of six who rendered a total of 235 passport, visa, civil registry, notarial and authentication, and dual citizenship services for Filipinos in the island.

The activity was held in coordination with the Hawaii County’s Immigration Office and volunteers from the Filipino community in Hilo.

Below is the breakdown of the consular services that were rendered during the modile consular mission:

The consular team was also warmly welcomed by the Filipino community in Hilo with a dinner reception hosted by Dr. Alex Aberin, a prominent Filipino physician on the island.

During the visit to the island, Consul General Jamoralin took the opportunity to meet with the following professors/members of the academe and businessmen to discuss possible projects and collaborations in the future which will benefit the Philippines and the Filipinos.

The County of Hawaii (more properly known as the Big Island, owing to its geographical size), is home to around 41,000 residents of Filipino ancestry, comprising 22% of the island’s population.  Most of the Filipinos in the island are farmers and plantation workers. END
