07 September 2016 — Philippine food and food products as well as fashion accessories did well at the First Philippine Street Festival at the Old Arbat in Moscow.

Top sellers were 7D dried mangoes and mango juice from Cebu, imported by the 7D Foods Russia and CIS Company.

Another top seller were tablea chocolate products also from Cebu and sent over to Russia just for the Festival by Ms. Armi Garcia, Russia’s Honorary Consul in Cebu.  The Festival also introduced Philippine coco sugar to Russia in the form of Suchero, a healthy, all-natural sweetener produced from carefully extracted organic coconut.

The Festival also featured Philippine delicacies like puto, leche flan and biko with mango.  Those who attended the Festival were also treated to a variety of Philippine savory dishes, from menudo, dinuguan, lechon kawali and pinakbet.

“All our food offerings went well with our Russian friends. They were game in tasting unfamiliar food but were all pleasantly surprised by how delicious these were,” according to Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta. “They were particularly happy to be tasting foods with unique and distinct flavors, the Ambassador added.

“There was strong demand for our dessert specialties and we were hard put to produce these to meet the demand as well as maintain the excellent quality of our offerings,” Ambassador Sorreta said.

Philippine fresh water pearls and other fashion accessories also sold well during the Festival.  “Our fashion accessories are well-designed and well made.  They have a strong appeal to fashion consumers here in Russia,” Ambassador Sorreta said.

The Philippine Street Festival at the Old Arbat was held on August 24-30. It was organized in cooperation with the Moscow City Government. END
