Dubai Barney

13 September 2016 — The Philippine Consulate in Dubai and the Northern Emirates officially launched the Kabayan Corner – Ask Atty. Barney / Isumbong mo kay Congen project on September 06 during the Philippine Independence Day Reception at the Marriott Hotel, Al Jadaff, Dubai.

The project is a collaboration of the Philippine Consulate, LBC and Gulf Law’s Atty. Barney Almazar. It is envisioned to expand the reach of the Philippine government and bring its services to over 450,000 Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, especially those who are not aware of the presence of the Consulate or its services.

The Kabayan Corner includes a tablet (containing basic laws of the UAE) and a drop-box for Filipinos to send letters to Gulf Law and the Consulate for legal advice or consular and other concerns. The drop-box gives the Consulate an opportunity to increase its awareness of the issues of Filipinos in Dubai and help it to ascertain the best possible courses of action.

The Kabayan Corner is installed in the following locations: Mankhool Satwa Smart Shelter (opposite Al Hana Center); Satwa Smart Shelter (in front of New Westzone Supermarket); Al Rigga Smart Shelter (in front of Jollibee Al Ghurair Center); LBC Dubai Branch (Karama near Gmart, opposite Al Attar); and LBC Sharjah Brnch (back side of Gold Center). LBC will deliver the letters in the drop-box to the Consulate on a weekly basis.

This project is one of the initiatives that the Consulate prioritizes as part of its campaign to promote the Philippine Government’s pro-active role in serving the people. END
