14 September 2016— The Philippine Embassy in Rome encouraged Italian audiences and local officials to explore Philippine film and cinema during the Salento International Film Festival (SIFF) in Tricase in Puglia region, Italy.

On September 10, Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco attended the festival to support Philippine film Iadya Mo Kami (Deliver Us) directed by Mel Chionglo. Iadya Mo Kami was the SIFF’s closing night film.

Iadya Mo Kami truly represents Filipino pride, demonstrating our nation’s excellence in the field of arts,” said Ambassador Nolasco to audiences during the closing night. True enough, the film’s lead Allen Dizon won the best actor award in the festival.

Ambassador Nolasco added that the film not only promotes Philippine cinema, but also provides a glimpse of Philippine arts and culture.

During his visit in Tricase, the ambassador took the opportunity to meet local officials, including Mayor Antonio Coppola.

“Tricase as host to an international film festival promotes cultural exchange, enabling peoples to understand each other. This is especially important because of migration,” Ambassador Nolasco conveyed to the Tricase mayor. END
