More than 200 overseas Filipinos availed themselves of consular services during the outreach.
Aside from consular services, Consul Demdem administered the oath of allegiance to Ms. Criselda Sumay Esteban, a longtime nurse in Modena, who retained her Philippine citizenship per Republic Act No. 9225.
During the outreach, Consul Demdem met with leaders of the Filipino Community in Modena and discussed with them issues affecting overseas Filipinos there, including programs of action to address their concerns. The FilCom leaders pledged to continue collaborating with the Consulate to ensure the provision of consular services to the more than 4,000 overseas Filipinos in Modena and neighboring provinces.
Most Filipinos in Modena work in households, factories, hospitals, and food processing plants, while a few others operate their own businesses. END
