14 September 2016 — The Philippines participated in the 9th Asia Fruit Logistica on September 07 to 09 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong SAR. Philippine exhibitors were SL Agrifood Corporation and Nader & Ebrahim c/o Hassan Philippines, Inc (NEH Phils.).
This event showcased products like fresh, unprocessed fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, nuts, herbs and spices, organic products, self-service flowers and potted plants, and fresh-cut convenience. Suppliers of products and services for packaging, storage, transport, warehousing and product presentation also exhibited their offerings to the Food & Beverage industry.
The Expo registered 2,884 exhibiting companies and organizations from 83 countries. Over 70,000 trade visitors from 130 countries attended Asia Fruit Logistica 2016. The Expo also gathered importers and exporters, fruit and vegetable producers, wholesalers and retailers, packaging and handling specialists, transport and logistics specialists.
The Philippine Consulate General, headed by Consul General Bernardita L. Catalla, encourages major Philippine fruit producers and suppliers to actively participate in next year’s event in coordination with the Department of Agriculture. The presence of a Philippine pavilion will boost the country’s prominence in the global fruit market. The event is also an opportunity for Philippine producers, particularly of tropical fruits, to introduce fresh fruits to the global market. END
