14 September 2016 — Undersecretary for Finance and Materiel of the Philippine Department of National Defense Raymundo de Vera Elefante met with Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov on September 07 at the sidelines of the International Military-Technical Forum “Army -2016” in Moscow.
They discussed prospects for cooperation between Russian and Philippine defense establishments in the areas of military education, counter-terrorism, humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR), military medicine, and peacekeeping, among others. The two sides reiterated their interest and commitment to advance Philippines-Russia military-to-military engagement.
Also in the meeting were Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta, Rear Admiral Rafael G. Mariano, Vice Commander of the Philippine Navy, Major General Benjamin R. Madrigal, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Luningning G. Camoying, Political and Military Affairs Officer of the Philippine Embassy in Moscow.
Undersecretary Elefante and delegation are in Moscow to attend the International Military-Technical Forum “Army-2016” which runs from September 06 to11 at the Patriot Park, Kubinka Airfield, in Moscow Region.
The International Military-Technical Forum is Russia’s main exhibition event showcasing the latest innovations in the field of armament and military equipment. This year’s edition brought together the major players in Russia’s defense industry and delegations from 80 countries, including the Philippines. END
