16 September 2016 —The Philippine Consulate General in Milan and the Philippine Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Association (POLO-OWWA) held a forum in Turin, Italy on September 04 themed, “Karapatan, Benepisyo at Tungkulin (KBT 101)” with the support of the Associazione Culturale Filippine (ACFIL) and OFW Watch Italy. Through the forum, which had a very good turnout in attendance, the Consulate aimed to provide updates on new laws and regulations concerning rights and obligations of Filipinos living and working in the country.
Labor consultant Atty. Maria Rosaria Carpentieri provided updates on nine topics including those concerning pension, end of service benefits, baby bonus, and new rules on job dismissal.
Consul General Marichu Mauro said that it was the first time that this forum was held outside of Milan and noted that the Consulate will be holding a similar activity in other regions. The Consul General also took the opportunity to announce the streamlined requirements and procedures on consular services, to which the Filipino communities present responded with great appreciation.
During the forum, Acting Labor Attache Jocelyn Hapal conducted a gender awareness session while Administrative Staff Mary Rose Usaraga announced the use of online registration in relation to the new policy on overseas employment certificates for Filipino workers. END
