19 September 2016 — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte laid a wreath at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery on September 09 as part of his two-day visit to Indonesia.

President Duterte was accompanied by Philippine cabinet secretaries led by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto Yasay, Jr. and Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Maria Lumen B. Isleta.  Armed Military Forces Regional Command Chief Major General Teddy Lhaksmana led the Indonesian officials in joining President Duterte at the wreath-laying ceremony.

The military cemetery in Kalibata, built in 1953, is a final resting place for national heroes, war veterans, and soldiers who died in the fight for Indonesia's independence.

The group then proceeded to the Presidential Palace where the President was accorded ceremonial honors and a 21-gun salute, after which he proceeded to the Palace’s Guest Book Room to sign the book. END
