LONDOT

19 September 2016-- The Department of Tourism (DOT) office of the Philippine Embassy in London held a two-day tourism promotion activity at Potters Fields Park in London last August 27 to 28.

Surrounded by London’s iconic Tower of London and Tower Bridge, DOT transformed the central London Park into a slice of the Philippines for local residents. The event featured some of the Philippines’ most popular tourist attractions including Boracay, Davao and Palawan.

The two-day event drew several participants with its interactive setup. DOT London installed a zipline, recreated the Boracay white sand beach experience, and set up virtual simulations of the Banaue Rice Terraces and the caves of Palawan.

Guests were entertained with Filipino cultural performances by Lahing Kayumanggi dance group, and other Filipino talents in the UK.

DOT London partnered with UK-based Filipino business establishments including Romulo Café to provide a taste of Filipino cuisine to guests. The activity also featured a competition that gave lucky participants a chance to win a trip to the Philippines on a luxury nine-day holiday to Manila, Boracay, Cebu and Palawan with return flights via Philippine Airlines including hotel accommodations at the various Shangri-la hotels.

The tourism promotion event is part of a recent Philippine tourism campaign series that includes the ‘station domination’ series at Waterloo and King’s Cross train stations in London. END
