19 September 2016—The Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) Switzerland Chapter celebrated its 25th Anniversary in Zurich on September 10. Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno, and 180 members and guests of the PNA attended the said event.
In his speech, Ambassador Jimeno congratulated the PNA leaders and members on the organization’s silver year. He mentioned the importance of the organization’s charity projects and how the organization is benefiting hundreds of Filipinos in need.
The Ambassador also asked for the organization’s support for efforts to bring more nurses and healthcare workers to Switzerland through the Philippine-Swiss Trainee Agreement.
“I am meeting with the Philippine Honorary Consul Dr. Urs Lustenburger and his business colleague to explore avenues for bringing Filipino nurses to Switzerland and Germany. While we are cognizant of the restrictions presented by Switzerland’s Free Movement of People Agreement with the EU, we are still hopeful that this project can push through on a cantonal level” Ambassador Jimeno said.
He encouraged the PNA members to use their unique opportunity to lead younger generations of Filipino nurses to follow their footsteps and enjoy the same great privilege.
The celebration also served as a fund-raising event with the goal of donating the proceeds to the homeless families who were affected by Typhoon Lando on October 2015 in Cabanatuan City and the construction of toilets in Alamada Elementary School in North Cotabato.
The Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Switzerland Chapter is an organization of nurses and paramedics. It is actively involved in projects geared towards helping less fortunate, indigent and homeless Filipinos. END
