20 September 2016 — Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes visited today the Danube Group of Companies and met with the company’s Filipino employees as part of the Consulate’s thrust to widen its reach within the Filipino Community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates (DNE), following his visit to the LBC offices last August 25. Both LBC and the Danube Group employ a sizeable number of Filipinos.

Danube is the leading building material company in the Middle East. Over 10% of 2,500 employees of Danube Group are Filipinos. During his forum with the employees, Consul General Cortes briefed them on what the Consulate does and what services it offers. He also provided contact information for the benefit of those who need to clarify certain consular issues and concerns and reminded them to observe U.A.E. laws, in particular those pertaining to alcohol-related offenses and immorality.

The Consulate is on a vigorous campaign to inform the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates (DNE) of its services and its policies, particularly what issues the Consulate could help resolve and what its limits/boundaries are.

The Embassy is also in the process of scheduling similar visits to many other such companies. Further, the Consulate has also partnered with LBC in its Kabayan Corner – Ask Atty. Barney / Isumbong mo kay Congen drop box facility in its heightened efforts to reach out to more Filipinos in the DNE. END
