20 September 2016 — Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales received a group of Filipino scholars enrolled in Singapore universities at the official residence on September 16, where he hosted a luncheon for them.

The group was composed of several scholars enrolled in various post-graduate programs at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) of the National University of Singapore (NUS), and one undergraduate student enrolled at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The scholars came from both public and private sectors in the Philippines.

Launched in 2004, LKYSPP is named in honor of Singapore's first Prime Minister. It offers four (4) master's degree programs and a doctorate program and has four research centers. The school's Executive Education provides short-term training programmes for over 2,000 senior professionals yearly from over 90 countries worldwide, including the Philippines. About 80% of the students are from abroad and the rest are from Singapore.

Ambassador Morales, who was also accompanied by officers of the Philippine Embassy, thanked the scholars for their visit to the official residence. He encouraged them to participate in activities of the Embassy and join in promoting the Philippines in Singapore and, more importantly, to apply best practices that they learn at LKYSPP and in Singapore at once upon their return to the Philippines.
