Brun Gold

21 September 2016 — Ms. Veenea Kamalam Pascua Nair, a Filipina born and raised in Brunei Darussalam, called on Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre on September 09.  Ms. Nair, who just completed her Canadian Pre-University in Engineering at Taylor’s College, Malaysia, joined the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) 2016 in Long Beach California, USA, and won four (4) gold, one (1) silver, four (4) bronze medals, and a long-term scholarship with Indasoul Entertainment.

During the courtesy call, Ms. Nair recalled the rigors of the competition and relayed the challenges she encountered, in view of the remarkable talents of the other participants. She also recounted that it was her determination, coupled by her aspiration to honor her parents, which enabled her to hurdle the challenges of the competition.

Ambassador Montealegre expressed his warm congratulations and remarked that Ms. Nair’s achievements would serve as an inspiration to all young Filipinos around the world. He also advised Ms. Nair to always cherish her Filipino roots and to keep on improving her craft. 

The WCOPA is an annual international competition now on its 20th year. Singers, musicians, dancers, actors and models from more than 60 countries around the world compete before 75 judges from the entertainment industry. The WCOPA is often cited as the official “Talent Olympics” for aspiring performers.  END
