17 October 2013. The Philippine Embassies in Brussels and Berlin joined hands to support the participation of Premium Food Philippines at Opening Day of ANUGA 2013, the world’s most important Food and Beverage Fair. Anuga Fair is held every other year alternating with SIAL, in Cologne, Germany.
Philippine participation at the Fair was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry/Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (DTI/CITEM) and the Department of Agriculture/Agribusiness Marketing and Assistance Service (DA/AMAS).
Special Guests of the Philippine Pavilion were Senator Cynthia Villar and former Senator Manny Villar who attended the Opening Ceremony together with Philippine Ambassador to Germany Cleofe Natividad, DTI Undersecretary Chito Manalo, Jr., CITEM Executive Diretor Rosvi Gaetos, Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Berlin Jose Antonio Buencamino and DA-Brussels Pit Laquian.
Hosted by Cologne City Mayor Jurgen Roters, Guests Speakers at the Opening Ceremony included European Union Commissioner for Energy, Gunther H. Ottinger, European Investment Bank President Dr. Werner Hoyer.
Philippine participation to Anuga 2013 was structured under the collective exports branding initiative “PREMIUM FOOD PHILIPPINES (Taste By Design).” Eighteen (18) Philippine producers of seven natural organic and sustainable food products (banana, cacao, mango, coffee, coconut, pineapple and tuna) were carefully handpicked for having met the requisite terroir, the all-important characteristics of uniqueness arising from the origin of these food products.
The 18 Philippine producers are, Andy Albao Enterprise, B-G Fruits and Nuts Manufacturing Corporation, Brandexports Philippines, Inc./Profood International Corp., Celebes Canning Corporation, Fitrite Incorporated, GSL Premium Food Export Corporation, KSK Food Products, Linkage Foods Venture Corporation, MLhullier Food Products, Mega Fishing Corporation, Monde M.Y. Sun Corporation, Philbest Canning Corporation, Philfresh Corporation, Philippine Grocers food Export, Inc., Prime Fruits International, Inc., Q-Phil Products International, Raw Brown Sugar Milling Co., Inc.; and See’s International Food Mfg., Corp.
Based on 2011 figures, Anuga hosted 6,743 exhibitors from 97 countries and attended by 154,516 trade visitors from 185 countries. It was expected that Anuga 2013 would surpass the 2011 figures by at least 10%.
The Philippine Pavilion at Anuga Fair, located at Booth A-057g/B-60g, Cologne Exhibition Center, was open to interested traders and buyers from October 05 to 09. END
