27 September 2016 —The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai launched the 1st Photography and Film Making Workshop for Filipino students of Dubai and the Northern Emirates at the Rizal Hall of the Philippines Consulate on September 23.
The aim of the 10-session workshop is to develop the photography skills of Filipino students in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and to advance their knowledge in videography, cinematography, and film making. The students were under the tutelage of Filipino photographers Eros Goze and Raul Gabat. Gabat is the Managing Director of Canon Middle East.
The activity was organized as part of the Consulate General’s Rizal Forum activities.
Twenty-four (24) students from United International Private School of Dubai, the Philippine School of Dubai, and the Far Eastern Private School of Sharjah participated in the workshop. Canon Middle East also provided brand-new cameras to the students which were used during the workshop.
After two weeks of training, the students will exhibit their works at the Consulate’s main exhibit gallery. The list of 24 will then be trimmed down to the top ten photographers. The top ten photographers will then continue on to the film making module. Part of their output and target is to join the 48-hour Film Project, a platform for independent film makers and budding film makers. END
