28 September 2016 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay Jr. met with the Minister of Justice of Senegal, Sidiki Kaba, President of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), to discuss issues of common interests between the Philippines and the ASP.
The ASP acts as a legislative body in the implementation of the Rome Statute and exercises management oversight for the ICC. Secretary Yasay, who led the Philippine delegation to the opening this week of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to the ICC and the global fight against genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. The Philippines has been a State Party to the Rome Statute since 2011, along with 123 other States Parties. END
