28 September 2016 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay Jr affirmed the excellent state of the Philippines’ relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in his meeting with Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the sidelines of the opening of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Both sides agreed to further enhance the two countries’ cooperation in investments, agriculture, tourism, mutual legal assistance and consular matters. The UAE hosts a large Filipino community, and Sheikh Abdullah – son of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE – has recognized their invaluable contribution to his country’s development and progress.
