28 September 2016 – Diplomatic missions of the ten member-states of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in France participated in a bowling tournament to celebrate the ASEAN Family Day at Bowling Foch on September 24.
The Philippines, led by Ambassador Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, chaired this year’s ASEAN Family Day.
"As in ASEAN, we not only celebrate the event itself, but we also highlight the process it has taken us to get to where we are. Consensus has always been the guiding principle we have employed and I would like to thank the cooperation of the embassies and work of the working group to make this event a reality,” said Ambassador Lazaro in her welcome remarks.
The bowling tournament officially commenced with the ceremonial rolling of balls by Ambassadors representing each ASEAN Embassy.
Malaysia won the best female bowler, while Lao People’s Democratic Republic bagged best male bowler and best team.
The ASEAN Family Day has been an annual tradition for the ASEAN Committee in Paris and an opportunity for officers, staff and families of all ten ASEAN embassies to be under one roof and get to know each other, broaden their network and at the same time, enjoy the cuisine that the ten countries have to offer.
