28 September 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver conducted its first consular outreach in the municipality of Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia on September 23 to 24.
The Consulate General provided passport, notarial and civil registry services to Filipinos within the East Kootenay region in British Columbia and nearby Alberta province.
A total of 120 passport applications were processed. The outreach team also processed a total of six civil registry, notarials and authentication, and NBI clearance applications. One former Filipino citizen who took his oath under RA 9225 or the Dual Citizenship Act.
Aside from delivering consular services, the outreach team provided applicants with a mini-lecture on financial literacy; the importance and procedures for the report of birth and report of marriage; and dual citizenship.
The East Kootenay region, composed of the cities and municipalities of Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Radium Hot Springs, Fernie, Sparwood, Jumbo Glacier, Elkford and Canal Flats, is home to approximately 300 Filipino migrants and workers. END
