30 September 2016– The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv has begun to fully implement the new passport system as a step towards issuing the new ePassports to applicants.
The new passport uses more visually-appealing designs and contains enhanced security features improving the integrity of Philippine passports. The microchip embedded in the passport has been upgraded to make it possible to authenticate the biometric data of the passport holder.
The image of the Philippine eagle, and other natural and cultural Philippine landmarks, are also featured in the new passport.
Philippine Embassy Consul General to Israel Pamela Durian-Bailon welcomed the new passport, saying “The upgraded ePassport is part of the drive of the Department of Foreign Affairs to improve our consular services to the public at no additional cost.”
Ms. Valen Lucero, a caregiver based in Jerusalem, is the first Filipino in Israel to apply for the new passport at the Embassy.
Passport applicants at the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv will be issued the new passports beginning September 22. END
