30 September 2016— The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco conducted a consular outreach at the Crosswind Church, Denver on September 16 and 17 and in Hotel Elegante, Colorado Springs, Colorado on September 18 and 19.
The Consulate General processed 320 passport renewals, including two lost passports; 31 acknowledgements, one authentication, and nine certifications/affidavits. Civil registry services include 33 Reports of Marriage and 15 Reports of Birth, while 77 availed of Dual Citizenship, with eight minor derivatives.
The eight-person team led by Vice Consul Carlyn A. Monastrial was assisted by the Filipino-American Community based in Aurora, Denver and Colorado Springs. Volunteers were able to pre-process documents of Filipinos in need of consular services and maintain order in the course of the outreach.
During the outreach, an information campaign on registration and voting for the United States national elections was conducted. Filipino-American Community leader Giselle Rushford led the conversation, encouraging outreach applicants to register to vote and to exercise their civic duty to vote during the November elections, particularly on issues that affect the Filipino-American Community.
War veteran and US Citizenship and Immigration Services Officer Mr. Courtney Patterson informed the Filipino-American Community in Denver about the Filipino World War II Veterans Parole Program. The program reviews individual cases of petitions of Filipino American war veterans, allowing family members to come to the United States while they wait for their immigrant visas to become available.
