03 October 2016 – Officers and members of the Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) paid a courtesy call on Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz at the Philippine Consulate General on September 15.

JFAV is a nationwide alliance of Filipino World War II Veterans organizations, students, youth and community based in the United States.  In 2006, it took steps as a separate national organization from a west coast regional organization in pursuit of equity and justice for Filipino-American veterans.

The officers and members of JFAV included Mr. Arturo P. Garcia, Dr. Orlando Cagampan, Dr. Veronico Agatep, Dr. Arturo Flores, Ms. Phylizia Carillo, Mr. Maximo Fortu, Mr. Rogaciano Dagdag and Mrs. Dagdag.  Ms. Carillo made a short presentation about the “Kabataang Maka-Bayan:  Pro-People Youth” who also campaigned with JFAV.  Ms. Carillo also showed their projects with JFAV which include lobbying with Representatives in Washington, D.C., and the annual Veterans Day March held in Hollywood. Currently, the causes of JFAV include recognition of veterans, the Congressional Medal Act for Filipino Veterans of World War II, visa programs, survivor pensions and quit-claims.

Consul General Cruz informed the group that the Consulate recently opened special lanes for veterans, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The Consul General also confirmed his attendance to the Veterans’ Day March on November 11. END
