07 October 2016 — The first holder of new electronic passport in Rome is Ms. Elve Belles Perez, 36, received her new ePassport on September 14, about a month after the Philippine government had started issuing new ePassport booklets.
The new ePassport comes in a 44-page booklet and showcases the country’s rich cultural heritage, including lines from the Philippine national anthem and different tourist destinations. It has security features that are consistent with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The old ePassports issued by the Philippine government remain valid until their dates of expiry. Holders of these ePassports need not apply for a new one. END
