10 October 2016 —Philippine Embassy in Santiago Chargé d’affaires Mr. Marcos Punsalang met with the International Affairs Director of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS), Mr. Rodrigo Mujica, and the Deputy Director Ms. Elizabeth Lagos Rubio, at the CCS headquarters in Santiago, Chile on October 04.
The CCS is a group that focuses on facilitating business, linking business groups from various sectors, including inbound and outbound services. It also receives international business delegations, and organizes Chilean business delegations abroad.
During the meeting, Chargé d’affaires Punsalang informed the CCS of what can be expected from the Philippines such as President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s plans in infrastructure development, which is projected to reach 7% of total GDP spending in 2016, opportunities in renewable energy commercialization, and the possibility of sharing best practices in solar and geothermal power development between the two countries. He also highlighted the Business Process Outsourcing industry, its potential and opportunities and possible complementarities in this area between Chile and the Philippines.
The Embassy will begin seeking ways through which the CCS will be able to establish closer ties with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. END
