11 October 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Doha, in cooperation with the InterContinental Doha the City Hotel, spearheaded the culinary promotion dubbed the "Filipino Food Fiesta" at Hwang, the Pan-Asian restaurant of the hotel on October 04.
The promotion aims to introduce the rich flavors and diversity of Filipino food to the locals and expatriates in Qatar and to elevate Filipino food to a five-star hotel dining experience.
Chef Michelle Adrillana, guest chef and consultant from the Philippines, will be in Doha for the duration of the event to lead the kitchen team in the preparation of delectable Filipino food.
“This project is part of the Embassy’s thrust to promote Filipino cuisine as a reflection of our history, culture, and heritage. It also showcases the connectivity of our country’s history to the rest of the world through the infusion of different flavors in our food. Filipinos celebrate the important milestones through our culinary expressions ranging from the simple family meals to the rich and extravagant fiestas celebrated all over the country. This is the first time that we are elevating the promotion of Filipino cuisine to a five-star hotel in order to introduce our food to the world. Through this initiative, we aim to promote the Philippines as an ideal tourist and business destination in Asia,” said Ambassador Santos.
The “Filipino Food Fiesta” will run from October 05 to 25 at the Hwang Restaurant of InterContinental Doha the City. END
