14 October 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, in cooperation with the International Social Service Hong Kong (ISS-HK), commenced the Cantonese Language classes at the Philippine Consulate General Gallery. The 2016 pilot class will run from September 18 to November 20.

The course has around 60 students, divided into morning and afternoon sessions.

The project aims to provide OFWs an opportunity to learn the language and enable them to engage their employers and Hong Kong locals in more comprehensive ways.

In her opening address, Consul General Bernardita L. Catalla encouraged the students to continue to persevere and complete the course, and afterwards, register again for the next level, Basic Cantonese Level 2, which will be organized next year.

This is the second installment of Cantonese Classes at the Consulate after the first set of language classes in 2015. END
