14 October 2016 — The Philippines was a featured country at the annual Feria Internacional de Comercio Exterior e Inversión (International Foreign Trade and Investment Fair) held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City on October 04 to 05. The Fair was jointly hosted by the Mexican National Association of Importers and Exporters (ANIERM), ProMéxico, the Mexican federal agency in charge of promoting international trade, and the Mexican National Bank of Foreign Trade (BANCOMEXT).

The Philippine booth highlighted Philippine trade and investment potential and introduced the services of the newly-opened Philippine Trade and Investment Center of the Philippine Embassy in Mexico City, headed by Commercial Counselor Vichael Angelo Roaring.

Delegates to the conference and visitors to the fair showed interest in doing business with the Philippines, and Mexican entrepreneurs were briefed on product opportunities from the Philippines for the Mexican market.

Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Eduardo Jose de Vega inaugurated the Philippine booth together with ANIERM President Arturo Perez Behr.  The Ambassador was joined by Commercial Counselor Vichael Angelo Roaring and Vice Consul Mikhal de Dios of the Philippine Embassy.

Now on its second year, the ANIERM Trade Fair attracts over 1,500 visitors and attendees, including presidents of chambers of commerce and trade associations, as well as special invitees from the public and private sectors and the diplomatic corps.

ANIERM is the most representative organization for international trade in México. It is known for its long-standing program of linking public and private entities, with the objective of creating and maintaining a suitable environment for entrepreneurial activities and increasing international trade volume between México and the world. The second edition of the event served as a venue to develop business opportunities between importers, exporters, service providers, and investors.

The Philippine booth featured information brochures from the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, and Philippine trade and tourism promotion videos. END
