17 October 2016 — In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Philippine Consulate General, in partnership with the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, organized and sponsored free breast screening, mammogram services and talk on breast cancer at the Consulate’s premises on October 09.
Now on its 5th year, the project aims to promote health and wellness among members of the Filipino Community in Hong Kong. The activity benefited more than 80 women aged 40 years and above.
The Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation was represented by Ms. Grace Chung, Senior Health Service Officer; Ms.Nicole Ying, Health Service Officer, Ms. Alice Yeung, Executive Officer; and Ms. Alexandra Bhisitkul, volunteer.
During the talk, Ms. Nicole Ying discussed the symptoms, statistics and risk factors of breast cancer, as well as how to conduct self-examination and breast cancer treatment.
Participants exchanged experiences on breast concerns and sought advice on breast health.
The event was held under the auspices of the Consulate’s gender and development (GAD) program. END
