17 October 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guam conducted its 2nd mobile consular mission in Palau for 2016at the Palasia Hotel in Koror, Palau from October 04 to 07.
The four-man consular team was led by Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian and was composed of Mr. Julius Checa for passport services, Ms. Juliet Simbul, ATN Officer for authentication, civil registry and as alternate passport officer, and Ms. Emerita Marquez, Collecting Officer.
From the usual three-day consular mission conducted in the past, the consular mission was extended by one more day. The total consular and Assistance-To-Nationals services rendered by the consular team during the four day consular mission was 662 consisting of the following: 469 ePassport Renewal (including four lost passports), 142 Extension of Validities, 22 Authentication/Notarials, three Report of Marriage, 12 Report of Birth, one Travel Document, 11 Employment Contract Verification, and three Assistance-To-Nationals services.
The consular outreach in Palau was successfully conducted with the strong support and cooperation of the office of Philippine Honorary Consul to Palau Eric Whipps and the volunteers from the Filipino community in Palau. Consul Auxilian expressed his appreciation to them for their selfless dedication and assistance.
The applicants expressed appreciation for the team’s understanding of their plight and for the assistance extended in the renewal and extension of the validity of the passport which they needed badly for the renewal of their immigration and work permit in Palau.
Consul Auxilian also met with Palau State Minister Billy Kuartei at the Palasia Hotel on October 05. Also in attendance was Mr. Gustav Altaro, Director of Palau Bureau of Foreign Affairs (BFA). Minister Kuartei expressed appreciation for the consular team’s visit to Palau as it is important for the welfare of the Filipinos residing or working in Palau.
Consul Auxilian also met with Mr. Aga David, President of The Filipino Community in Palau (TFCP) and a number of Filipinos to look into their specific problems and concerns and extend appropriate Assistance-To-Nationals services. END
