Amman

18 October 2016 — The ASEAN Committee in Amman, composed of the Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand, held the 2nd ASEAN Film Festival in Amman from October 14 to 15 at the Al Hussein Cultural Center.

The film showing marked the 49th anniversary of the ASEAN’s founding and featured a broad genre including a romance-comedy set in modern Bangkok, indigenous martial arts and coming-of-age set in Brunei, the intense longing to undertake the haj in Indonesia, the ordinary lives of local residents in the Philippines’ Bohol, and the fantasy-historical tale of the Malay Chronicles in pre-colonial Malaysia.

The Philippine Embassy in Amman featured the film “Bamboo Flowers” which was well-received by the audience because of its vivid depiction of the lives of Filipinos living in barrios and the beauty of the province of Bohol. END
