18 October 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Eduardo José de Vega attended a meeting of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Citizens of the State of Mexico (Asociación de Empresarios y Ciudadanos del Estado de México / ASECEM) on October 05.
He presented the profile of the Philippine economy and its trade and investment opportunities for Mexican entrepreneurs.
ASECEM is a socio-civic organization attending to the concerns of the business community and citizenry by providing legal representation before government and private institutions; promoting business development, education, sports, and culture; offering training courses in planning, and publishing; and engaging in other non-profit activities for the development of its members and the general community.
Ambassador de Vega was accompanied to the meeting by Vice Consul Mikhal C. de Dios and Commercial Counselor Vichael Angelo Roaring.
In his presentation, Ambassador de Vega encouraged the ASECEM members to consider the Philippines as their point of entry into the greater Asian market. The Ambassador cited the close cultural and historical links between the Philippines and Mexico and the similarities in both countries’ business cultures. He also noted the rapid annual growth of the Philippine economy, and the presence of major Mexican companies in the Philippines such as CEMEX and Coca-Cola FEMSA.
In closing, the Ambassador announced the recent opening of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Mexico City, and invited all interested entrepreneurs and businessmen to make contact with either the Embassy or the PTIC should they have any queries about doing business in the Philippines. END
