20 October 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Rome will be sending a consular outreach team to Malta on October 22 to 23 and to Salerno in Campania, the southwestern region of Italy, from November 04 to 06 to bring consular services closer to the Filipino nationals in both areas.

The Embassy will also resume its Sunday consular services in Rome on November 20 to address the needs of Filipino workers who have difficulty in taking a break from their work to visit the Embassy for their consular needs.

The outreach activities in Malta and Salerno will be the 13th and 14th consular mission organized by the Philippine Embassy this year. Representatives from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Social Security Service and Pag-IBIG will also form part of the consular outreach team.

The consular outreach is a core program of the Embassy to bring its services closer to the Filipino community, particularly those outside the capital city of Rome. It is being organized in coordination with the Filipino community and the office of the Philippine honorary consul who has jurisdiction over the area.

In Malta, home to an estimated 5,000 Filipino workers, the consular outreach team is expected to service applications for the renewal of passports and to perform notarial and legal services, particularly the verification and authentication of employment contracts of Filipino workers.

Consular services in Salerno will also address the needs of Filipino nationals from other provinces and cities in Campania where about 4,000 Filipino nationals are located. END
