24 October 2016 — Philippine Consul General to Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes visited the Iranian Hospital of Dubai on October 17. There are over 100 Filipino healthcare professionals who work in the said hospital. Of the 100 Filipino healthcare professionals, the Consul General was able to meet around 40.
The Consul General’s visit marks the first time that the Iranian Hospital has been visited by a diplomatic official.
Dr. V. Sadr of the Iranian Red Crescent; Dr. Kamran Afsharian, Medical Director; Dr. AlirezaParand, Director of Finance and Administration Affairs; and Mr. AsgharSaharkiz, Chief Hospital Technical Advisor hosted the Consul General.
According to Dr. Sadr they chose the Philippine Consulate General as their first invite to their hospital because of the hospital's large Filipino presence and because they greatly appreciate the professionalism and work ethic of the Filipino nurses, lab technicians, radiologists, physical therapists, and other healthcare workers.
He commended the Filipinos for their admirable traits and expressed hope that more Filipino professionals, not just healthcare professionals but also accountants, engineers, and office staff, could join their institution.
Built in 1970 on a land donated by his Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, the Iranian Hospital was opened on April 14, 1972 making it the first health care provider in the Jumeirah region and is now currently the oldest in Dubai. Consul General Cortes also toured the hospital’s Center for Human Safety & Health and Diagnostic Genome Analysis, which is only one of five such centers in the world.
Dr. Sadr hopes that more Filipinos would come to know about the top-notch medical services the hospital offers. Among their clinics in the hospital are the Breast Clinic, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Internal Medicine, Obesity & Weight Loss Clinic, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatrics & Neonatology, and Pulmonology, among many others.
The hospital also houses specialty clinics such as Dental Services, Dermatology, Nutrition & Diet, Ophthalmology, and Psychiatry. As the hospital is a charity hospital, its fees and services are very affordable and medicine prescribed by the hospital and available at their in-house pharmacy is free of charge. END
